Post Op Instructions for Ingrown Toenail Removal

  1. Limit activity for the rest of the day
  2. Don't be alarmed if some blood appears on bandage
  3. Starting tomorrow, remove bandage and wash foot (shower is ok; soaking it in a bath is not)
  4. Apply a thin layer of prescribed medication and cover with a band-aid
  5. If sore, you may soak in Epsom salt and warm water 5-10 minutes twice a day (apply antibiotic ointment and band-aid after)
  6. Some drainage is normal
  7. If there is significant Drainage or you notice an increase in pain, redness or swelling, please contact our office (812)949-1002

Post Op Instructions for Cauterization of Ingrown Toenail Removal

  1. Limit activity for the rest of the day
  2. Don't be alarmed if some blood appears on bandage
  3. Starting tomorrow, remove bandage and wash foot (shower is ok; soaking it in a bath is not)
  4. Apply a thin layer of prescribed medication and cover with a band-aid
  5. Drainage and redness is normal (usually up to 3 weeks)
  6. Make sure to keep edges cleaned out
  7. If after 2 weeks the sore is still draining, discontinue prescribed medication and start applying iodine
